Peter Burtz

Peter Burtz (born April 30, 1965 in Bochum ) is a German music producer , author and journalist .

Life

In the early 1980s, Peter Burtz was the singer of the heavy metal formation Steeler , with whom he released four albums. At the same time he was a member of the founding team of the hard rock magazine Metal Hammer in 1984 , which he headed as editor-in-chief from 1989 to the end of 1991.

In 1992 he moved to EMI Electrola as A&R Director and signed artists such as Guildo Horn , Fury in the Slaughterhouse and Paradise Lost . From 1995 he headed the EMI sub-label spin records , which marketed artists such as the Beastie Boys , Foo Fighters and Helge Schneider in Germany .

In 1997, Burtz became Managing Director EMI Germany. In 1999, Burtz left EMI and produced the Gerd Show with vocal parodist Elmar Brandt , a nationwide radio comedy format that was awarded the German Comedy Prize that same year . After Schröder was voted out of office in 2005, he initiated the radio series Supermerkel , which is broadcast on the Gerd show slots. The duo Brandt / Burtz produced numerous top 20 hits with the singing Chancellor; The best known is probably the Steuersong from 2002, which sold millions of copies in Germany and was number 1 in the Media Control Charts for 18 weeks .
