Gerd Thiemichen

Gerd Thiemichen (born December 6, 1921 ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Thiemichen began his career as a cyclist in 1936. He drove road and track races .

In the 1949 East Zone Tour , Thiemichen took tenth place overall. In 1950 he won the GDR championship title in the 4000 meter team pursuit together with Otto Busse , Helmut Richard Körnig and Rolf Thieme .

From 1951 Thiemichen drove stayer races . In 1952 he won the Leipzig City Prize , the first race in the GDR, which ran over 100 km. In 1954 he was the most successful stalker in the country with 14 wins in 25 endurance races. At the state championships of the stayers, Thiemichen won two second places in his career. In 1954 he drove his last stand-up race, he started for the BSG Chemie Leipzig .

In the following season, Thiemichen started as a pacemaker.

Thiemichen worked for several years as a youth coach at ASK Vorwärts Leipzig. After that, I was a volunteer organizer of track races in Leipzig for many years.
