Otto Busse (cyclist)
Otto Busse (born June 17, 1914 , † after 1979) was a German racing cyclist and trainer who was active in the GDR .
Athletic career
In 1949 Otto Busse, who came from Leipzig and drove for BSG Eisen und Stahl-Leipzig , won the Berlin-Leipzig race , as well as the Berlin-Angermünde-Berlin season opener. In the same year he was fourth in the overall ranking of the East Zone Tour. He started several times in the GDR Tour , his best result in 1952 was 17th place. In 1950 Busse started as captain of the first GDR team in the International Peace Tour and was 44th overall.
On the track he won the GDR championship title in team pursuit in 1950 together with Helmut Richard Körnig , Rolf Thieme and Gerd Thiemichen and in 1951 the title in two-man team driving with Günter Oldenburg .
Otto Busse was one of the founding members of the SC DHfK Leipzig in 1954 . After retiring from active cycling, he worked as a trainer in Leipzig and also looked after the GDR team on the peace ride. For several years he accompanied the peace ride on a motorcycle, together with the sports director of New Germany , Klaus Ullrich , and wrote analyzes of the race himself for the newspaper.
