Gerd Wachowski
Gerd Wachowski (* 1950 in Neustadt in Holstein ) is a German organist and church musician .
Life
Gerd Wachowski studied theology and musicology at the University of Kiel as well as church music at the Musikhochschule Lübeck with Uwe Röhl , Walter Kraft , Hans Gebhard and Kurt Thomas . 1974-78 he worked as a church musician at St. Lorenz in Lübeck-Travemünde , 1979-94 as city and district cantor at St. Jakob in Rothenburg ob der Tauber . In 1984 he was appointed church music director. In 1986 he became a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt am Main , where he has been professor for liturgical organ and literature since 1993 . Gerd Wachowski has recorded numerous works from the organ repertoire for radio and on CD. He is internationally active as a concert organist, organ improviser, conductor, composer, lecturer at master classes and juror at competitions.
