Democratic West Berlin had been used to “destabilize the GDR”. The Iron Curtain stands for "a period of peaceful coexistence in Europe".

State Security staff

Due to his political convictions, Walther declared his willingness to work for the Ministry for State Security and on April 15, 1988 committed himself in writing to cooperation. As an unofficial employee (IM) he chose the code name "Thomas Winter". The file contains six handwritten reports from the IM and six meeting reports from the commanding officer . The meetings took place in a conspiratorial apartment. This activity was ended on November 22, 1988 because of the subsequent full-time activity. From September 1, 1988, Walther performed active military service as a non-commissioned officer for the Feliks Dzierzynski Guard Regiment in Berlin , and was thus a full-time employee of the State Security.

Others

On February 25, 2002, he and other colleagues founded the Kulturwerk Altstadt eV in Ueckermünde, which has carried out the annual medieval "Historic Old Town Spectacle" in the Haffstadt ever since.
