Gerd Wollburg

Gerd Wollburg (born January 7, 1924 in Parchim , Mecklenburg ; † March 4, 1990 in Augsburg ) was a German industrial lawyer.

Life

As the son of a medium-sized entrepreneur, Wollburg attended the humanistic grammar school in Neubrandenburg . In 1942 he was drafted into the army (Wehrmacht) immediately after graduating from high school . Lieutenant in the (Pomeranian) Panzer Grenadier Regiment 5 since 1944, he was wounded in the battle for Hungary in October 1944. In May 1945 he fell into brief British captivity near Plön / Eutin . As a farm worker , he studied law and political science at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . As the founder of the Collegium Albertinum , he became a corps student at Palaiomarchia-Masovia in 1950 . During his traineeship training, he wrote his dissertation . He provided for a living as a faculty assistant to the criminal lawyer Horst Schröder and (for years) by working hourly at what would later become the West Bank. He passed the assessor exam in 1953 and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD . After a quick training at the Hamburger Kreditbank , he worked in the lending business.

In 1956 he switched to industry, to the Gutehoffnungshütte group . At Ferrostaal in Essen, he became a full board member for controlling, finance, human resources and administration in 1963. In 1968 he moved to the much larger sister company MAN in Augsburg as CFO . From 1973 to 1986 he was deputy chairman of the board. After retiring, he was on the supervisory boards of MAN, Commerzbank, Schweinfurter Kugellagerfabriken (SKF) (1977 chairman), Bilfinger Berger and Faber & Schleicher (MAN-Roland) for decades . At ELBEO he was on the advisory board. He worked as a lawyer until his death . The University of Augsburg honored him on his birthday in 1991 with a Gerd Wollburg commemorative lecture . The art historian Hanno-Walter Kruft spoke about "The discovery of a landscape - Olevano and the Germans". Since 1953 Wollburg was married to the West Prussian Waltraud Randolf. His son is the Düsseldorf business lawyer Ralph Wollburg.
