Gerhard Bürgisser

Gerhard Bürgisser SOCist (born May 19, 1608 in Bremgarten AG ; † June 12, 1670 in Wettingen ) was abbot of Wettingen Monastery .

Life

Gerhard Bürgisser made his profession in 1625 in Wettingen Monastery and was ordained a priest in 1633. From 1635 to 1641, he was young waiter , 1641-1648 Gross Kellner , 1649-1653 Prior and was back in 1658 Great waiter. As such, after the resignation of his predecessor Bernhard Keller , he was elected abbot on September 13, 1659, but was not given a nomination until 1662 because of disputes about the amount of the estimate . As abbot he put the monastic finances in order and in 1661 concluded a contract with the Bishop of Constance on the relationship between the parishes incorporated in the monastery and the diocese. In 1660 he had to fight a fight with Zurich because of the hunting rights in the Dietikon judicial district , which was awarded to the monastery based on the deed of 1259.

His grave is in the south aisle of the monastery church.
