Gerhard Eichler

Gerhard Eichler (born September 3, 1910 in Coschütz ; † December 13, 1976 ) was a German SED functionary. From 1953 to 1974 he was head of the personnel office of the Politburo of the Central Committee (ZK) of the SED and from 1953 to 1967 commander of the combat group unit of the SED Central Committee.

Life

Eichler, the son of a painter , learned to be a mechanical engineer after elementary school . In 1925 he became a member of the German Metalworkers' Association (DMV) and in 1928 of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) as well as of the Reich Banner Black-Red-Gold . In 1943/44 he fought as a soldier in the Navy in World War II .

After the end of the war, Eichler returned to Dresden and became a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and in 1946 the SED. In 1945 he worked as a personnel officer for the state police administration in Saxony , and in 1946 he became first secretary of the SED company party organization of the Dresden city administration. In 1945/46 he completed a course at the state party school of the KPD / SED Saxony.

In 1951 Eichler became a political employee of the Central Committee of the SED in Berlin and was an instructor in the cadre department until 1952 . He then became an instructor of the Central Cadre Register within the Central Committee's personnel office and headed the personnel office from March 1953 to June 1974 with the rank of sector manager. He then became a sector head in the office of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED. From 1953 to 1967 he was also the commander of the combat group unit of the Central Committee of the SED.
