In his trade, he was involved from 1986 to 1989 as chairman of the journeyman's examination committee for the photography trade and in 1990 was appointed to the CV's vocational training committee (BBA). He had a decisive influence on the national and Saarland photography scene and is considered one of the outstanding Saarland artistic personalities. Globally active companies sent him around the globe. In 2002 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, which is due in particular to his documentary commitment to the Ludwigskirche (Saarbrücken) and the Schlosskirche in Saarbrücken, whose famous windows were partly destroyed by Georg Meistermann in a bomb attack on the neighboring Wehrmacht exhibition on March 10, 1999 and could only be reconstructed with the help of photos by Gerhard Heisler.
