Gerhard Helm (born June 30, 1939 ) is a former German football player . In the debut round of the Bundesliga , 1963/64, the midfielder played two Bundesliga games at Karlsruher SC .

Career

During his time at Karlsruher SC, Helm played three games, one in the Oberliga Süd and two in the Bundesliga. In 1964 he left KSC and from then on played for FC Phoenix Bellheim in the second -rate regional soccer league Southwest .

In the amateur team of the blue and white of the Wildparkstadion , Helm proved himself in the rounds 1961/62 to 1963/64 in the 1st amateur league North Baden. In the first year of the Bundesliga, 1963/64, Helm and his colleagues were runner-up in North Baden under coach Bernhard Termath . Trainer Kurt Sommerlatt used the amateur for the first time on February 10, 1963 in the contract team at the away game in the then first-class soccer Oberliga Süd at the away game against VfB Stuttgart. In the 1: 2 defeat in front of 35,000 spectators, the KSC was in the attack line-up with Günter Herrmann , Heinz Ruppenstein , Jupp Marx , Helm and Horst Wild . By occupying fifth place at the end of the round, the team from the “fan-shaped city” was accepted into the newly installed Bundesliga for the 1963/64 season.

In the second half of the first Bundesliga season, on March 7 and 14, 1964, Helm made two Bundesliga appearances for the team from North Baden. It was the two home games against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1. FC Saarbrücken. In both games, he formed the runner row of hosts as the right wing runner together with Gustav Witlatschil and Jupp Marx in the World Cup system still practiced at the time . KSC won against Kaiserslautern with 5-1 goals and against Saarbrücken there was a 2-2 draw. The Karlsruhe team finished 13th after the round and Helm joined the Palatinate regional league team Phönix Bellheim for the 1964/65 round.

Under the former Oberliga Süd player of VfB Mühlburg and Karlsruher SC, Lothar Bechtel as coach, Helm made his debut on the first round match day, August 9, 1964, in a 1-1 home draw against TuS Neuendorf at Phoenix in the Regionalliga Südwest. He played on half right next to center striker Hugo Ulm and center runner Horst Hotz and scored the equalizer in the 71st minute to make it 1-1. Bellheim finished 10th at the end of the season and Helm had completed all 34 rounds and scored eight goals. For the 1965/66 season, the KSC players Rolf Kahn and Dieter Klaußner came to Bellheim. Helm and colleagues finished the lap in 12th place. Noteworthy were the two respective 1-0 home wins against SV Alsenborn (with Lorenz Horr ) and 1. FC Saarbrücken (with Walter Gawletta and Emil Poklitar ) in September and November 1965, respectively. With the home game on May 7, 1967 against SV Röchling Völklingen (4: 1) ended Gerhard Helm's career as a contract football player. Bellheim rose in 15th place in the table in the amateur camp. Helm has completed a total of 79 games with 16 goals in the Regionalliga Südwest for Bellheim in three rounds.
