In the GDR until 1961

Due to the circumstances of the Second World War, after moving from Romania to Görlitz in 1941, the Poklitar family moved to Žatec in what was then Czechoslovakia in 1947 , from where they moved to Falkensee near Berlin. Emil Poklitar played football for the lower class SG Finkenkrug until July 1958. From August of the world championship year 1958 he stormed for the BSG Rotation Babelsberg in the GDR league . There the attacker came on seven missions and two goals. After the descent of the Babelsberger, another 22 games with four goals were added in 1959 in the I. GDR League . For the game year 1960 Poklitar was signed by third place in the GDR league and the 1959 FDGB cup winner , Dynamo Berlin. The newcomer from Babelsberg prevailed as a goal scorer alongside team captain and playmaker Günter Schröter and scored 14 goals in 19 appearances. Dynamo won the runner- up in 1960 behind local rivals ASK Vorwärts with a convincing second half and a change of coach - Fritz Bachmann was replaced by Janos Gyarmati. After the 14th matchday of the GDR Oberliga season 1961/62, which went over 39 rounds due to the changeover from the calendar year to the autumn-spring rhythm, Poklitar and his teammate Rolf Starost used a friendly game of SC Dynamo Berlin in Copenhagen's Idrätspark against Boldklubben 93 on August 13, 1961 to flee to West Berlin . By then he had played 13 games and scored nine goals for Dynamo Berlin. Although he registered with the West Berlin club Tennis Borussia Berlin , he did not play a game there and registered with the southern German Freiburg FC after the mandatory twelve-month ban because of the association change .

In the Federal Republic, 1961 to 1970

After the suspension had expired, Poklitar stormed in the 1962/63 season for the Breisgau-Elf in the 2nd League South. In the last season before the introduction of the Bundesliga , he played 33 games for the FFC and scored 15 goals. The team from the Möslestadion came in fifth behind FSV Frankfurt, ESV Ingolstadt, SV Waldhof Mannheim and 1. FC Pforzheim and had thus qualified for the new regional football league introduced in the summer of 1963 . At the side of teammates Peter Kunter and Horst Wilkening , the dangerous attacker played 34 regional league games and contributed 15 goals for Freiburg. The old master - German champion 1907 - reached only 10th place and Poklitar therefore accepted an offer from Bundesliga relegated 1. FC Saarbrücken and moved to Saarland.

With the blue-blacks from Ludwigspark , the new center forward won the championship in the Regionalliga Südwest 1964/65 right away, together with his teammates Volker Danner , Werner Hesse , Werner Rinass , Erich Rohe and Heinz Vollmar . The Malstatter came to 33: 1 points in 17 home games and took the title eight points ahead of Wormatia Worms . Poklitar was the top scorer with 27 goals. In the Bundesliga promotion round, however, FC Bayern Munich prevailed ahead of Saarbrücken, Aachen and Tennis Borussia Berlin. On June 5, 1965, Poklitar caused Bayern's only defeat with his 43rd minute goal. In the 1965/66 round, Poklitar again took the top scorer's crown in the southwest - with 30 goals - but 1. FC Saarbrücken had to be content with the runner-up behind FK Pirmasens . In the BL promotion round the striker scored six goals, but Rot-Weiss Essen prevailed ahead of St. Pauli, Saarbrücken and Schweinfurt 05. Again as runner-up, Saarbrücken moved into the promotion round in 1966/67 - Poklitar had contributed 19 goals in the southwest alongside Manfred Berz and Winfried Richter - but even in the third attempt in a row it was not enough to return to the Bundesliga. Aachen prevailed in the Saarbrücker Group ahead of Kickers Offenbach and Saarbrücken.

In the following two rounds - 1967/68 and 1968/69 - Poklitar could no longer occupy one of the first two places in the Regionalliga Südwest with 1. FC Saarbrücken and thus no longer move into the Bundesliga promotion rounds. His last competitive game in the Regionalliga he played for Saarbrücken on September 7, 1969 in the 0-1 defeat at TuS Neuendorf . From 1964 to 1969 he played a total of 126 games for 1. FC Saarbrücken in the Regionalliga Südwest and scored 99 goals. As a goal scorer, he became an idol in Ludwigspark.
