Gerhard Köpernik

Gerhard Köpernik (born February 25, 1944 in Jihlava , Moravia ) is a German lawyer and political scientist . Since 2005 he has been President of the German-Romanian Society in Berlin .

Live and act

After studying law and political science in Berlin, Munich and at Dartmouth College , New Hampshire , USA in 1974, the promotion of Dr. jur. on "The extension of the legislative powers of the European Communities by the European Court of Justice".

After joining the Federal Ministry of Economics in 1974, Gerhard Köpernik worked in the foreign trade department of the ministry. From 1979 to 1983 he headed the trade promotion office at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bucharest . After his return to the Federal Ministry of Economics, he worked in the industry department. In 1991 he took over the management of the "Enterprise of the Treuhandanstalt" department, dealing with problems of the East German economy until 2000 and then with questions of the steel industry.

In 2002 he worked as an EU consultant for two years as part of a twinning project for the control of state aid at the Competition Office of the Czech Republic in Brno . From 2004 to 2008 he was head of the "Environmental Policy " department in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and from 2008 to 2009 EU advisor at the Regional Environment Agency Bucharest.
