Gerhard Koch (politician, 1945)

Gerhard Koch (born April 9, 1945 in Calw ; † January 21, 1999 in Ostfildern-Ruit ) was a German local politician . From 1975 to 1997 he was Lord Mayor of Ostfildern .

1973 Koch became mayor of Scharnhausen . On June 8, 1975 he was elected mayor of Ostfildern with 69.23 percent of the vote . With the declaration of Ostfildern as a major district town on July 1, 1976, Koch received the title of Lord Mayor as head of the city. In the mayoral election on June 5, 1983, he was confirmed in office by 90.75 percent of the electorate. On September 6, 1991, Koch was re-elected for a third term by 79.5 percent.

District President Udo Andriof complied with Koch's request of January 2, 1997 to retire him, with effect from February 25, 1997. On April 9, 2002, part of the former Ostfilderner Geschwister-Scholl-Strasse was opened in honor of the deceased mayor whose birthday was solemnly renamed Gerhard-Koch-Strasse.
