Athletic career

At the age of 15, Kraschina was accepted into the youth team of BSG Stahl Brandenburg in 1971 and four years later played his first games in the second-rate GDR league team . In 1977 he did three years of military service, but during this time he was able to continue playing football with the Vorwärts Neubrandenburg army sports community, which also played in the GDR League . In his first Neubrandenburg season 1977/78 he just missed promotion to the league, the forward team failed in the promotion round, in which Kraschina played seven of the eight qualifying games.

After completing his army service, Kraschina returned to Stahl Brandenburg in 1980. There he was transformed over the years from a striker to a midfield defender. With the Brandenburgers, Kraschina initially continued to play in the GDR league. In 1982/83, the BSG Stahl also had the chance to move up to the top division, but also failed in the promotion round. Kraschina had played all eight promotion games. A year later, the Brandenburgers succeeded in advancing to the league. After 22 league games they had again won the season victory, to which Kraschina had contributed with 21 missions. The following eight games in the promotion round all took place with Kraschina and ended successfully with first place.

The league season 1984/85 was not very successful for Kraschina. Although he was used as a central defender on the first match day, he had to pause for four match days. It was only when Eckart Märzke was injured that Kraschina came back to the team from the sixth to the eleventh match day. After that he was ousted by Jens Pahlke and Silvio Demuth and was only used five times by the end of the season. For 1985/86 Kraschina was still registered for the Oberliga, but was no longer used there. Instead, he played for the reserve team in the third-rate district league .
