Gerhard Lawin

Gerhard Lawin (born March 15, 1890 in Schlochau ; † May 28, 1960 in Lemgo ) was a German theologian and politician ( DVP ).

Life

After attending school in Marienburg , Lawin studied theology, law and history at the universities in Königsberg and Berlin . During his studies he became a member of the Alemannia Königsberg fraternity in 1909 and of the Allemannia Berlin fraternity in 1911 . He was first assistant preacher in Elbing and then worked as a pastor in Fischau . From 1924 to 1945 he took over a pastor's position in the evangelical community of Juditten - Königsberg-Stadt . From 1930 he was also consistorial councilor here.

Lawin was after the First World War, a member of the German People's Party (DVP) and sat in the referendum in the wake of the Versailles Treaty for further affiliation West Prussia , a the German Reich. He was active in local politics, became a city councilor in Königsberg and was elected chairman of the city council in 1926. From 1921 to 1924 he was a member of the Prussian state parliament .

After the Second World War , Lawin moved to West Germany and settled in Lemgo, where he took care of the needs of the displaced .
