Gerhard Lehnert

Gerhard Lehnert (born April 3, 1930 in Breslau ; † July 16, 2010 in Marloffstein-Rathsberg ) was a German doctor .

Career

Lehnert received his doctorate in 1955 from the medical faculty at the University of Cologne . In 1968 he completed his habilitation at the Erlangen Institute for Occupational and Social Medicine. His post- doctoral thesis “Blood lead level and its significance for the pathogenesis and prevention of occupational lead poisoning” established the biomonitoring that is indispensable in occupational and environmental medicine today .

In 1971 Lehnert accepted a professorship for occupational medicine at the University of Hamburg . From 1989 until his retirement in October 1998 he was professor for occupational and social medicine at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . During this time he was dean of the university's medical faculty from 1991 to 1997.

Between 1997 and 2000 he was President of the German Medical Faculty Conference . Between 1990 and 2000 he was President of the Bavarian Academy for Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine .
