Gerhard Pomykaj

Gerhard Pomykaj (born April 10, 1952 in Bochum ) is a German regional historian. As an author, he has published numerous fundamental books and essays on the history of the city of Gummersbach and the Oberbergischer Kreis.

Career

After graduating from high school in 1970, Pomykaj studied history and German at the universities of Marburg and Bochum from 1970 to 1977 . He graduated with the first state examination. Between 1983 and 1985 he did his legal clerkship and finished his studies with the 2nd state examination as a study assessor. From 1977 to 1982 he worked as a research assistant at the Ruhr University Bochum. In 1986 he became a lecturer there. From 1987 to 2018 he was city historian and archivist at the city ​​of Gummersbach , from 1991 to 2018 also district historian and archivist at the district administration of the Oberbergisches Kreis . The historian Jürgen Reulecke praised the work of Gerhard Pomykaj in an article in the magazine Romerike Berge .
