life and work

Gerhard Sagert lived and worked mainly in Hanover , where he worked in Linden from the Pfarrstrasse 29a of mostly in self-publishing his local history writings about Lower Saxony published, mainly to events in and around the North Sea . His texts, provided with his own photographs, deal with his own experiences on the Wadden Sea and in particular the port city of Cuxhaven as well as documentaries about the ship tragedies of the British freighter Ondo , the Italian Fides or the freight steamer Silona . SAGES reported, partly from his own experience, of "tough men" at sea, tuna catchers in the North Sea, crab fishermen, seal hunters, eel catchers, butter fishermen and slippery waters. He wrote about North Sea islands such as Scharhörn and Helgoland and, under the title Urgewalten off Cuxhaven's coast, described the storm surge of 1962 , the ice winter of 1963 and the low water of 1964 "based on personal experience, eyewitness reports and documentary documents".

As a puppeteer and author of puppet shows, SAGES supplied the figurines and sets for the fairy tale comedies by Evgeny Schwarz, which were translated from Russian . At the end of the 1970s, Gerhard Sübers published a book about hand puppets, stick puppets, stick puppets and "puppets in the 1st puppet museum in Lower Saxony in Cuxhaven-Duhnen".
