Gerhard Schneider (politician, 1942)

Gerhard Schneider (born July 11, 1942 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin ; † January 26, 2019 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Schneider graduated from high school in 1962 and then did his military service in the Bundeswehr . From 1963 he studied political science , modern history and constitutional law at the Free University of Berlin . In 1967 he completed his studies with a degree in political science. From 1970 to 1975 he was a research assistant in the SPD parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives .

In 1964 Schneider joined the SPD. In the 1971 Berlin election he was elected to the district council in the Steglitz district. In the following election in 1975 , Schneider was elected to the House of Representatives via the Steglitz district list. He was partially Parliamentary Director , in 1989 he resigned from Parliament.

From 1989 to 1991 Schneider was State Secretary to Senator Horst Wagner in the Senate Department for Labor, Transport and Operations.
