history

Gerhard Schubert, founder and managing partner

The company was founded in 1966 by Gerhard Schubert. The company, which at the time had only three employees, concentrated on the construction of initially only small units, conveyor belts and machines. The foundation for today's company was laid with the box erecting machine, also developed in 1966. In 1968 the first new building was completed in the wing area, which had to be expanded just two years later. From the Schubert idea to build individual packaging systems in series, the SSB modular system was developed in 1972 (Schubert special machine construction kit). Due to constant growth, the company moved to the south-east industrial area in 1972.

SNC-F2, the world's first packaging robot (1985)

In the 1980s, the optical detection system was ready for series production, which ensures that only perfect products are taken from the infeed belt. In 1985 the world's first packaging robot was built. Meanwhile 252 people were employed. The VMS control system was first used in 1996, also an in-house development. In 1995 the first picker line with the counter-rotating principle was introduced. A second assembly hall was built in 1998 and expanded in 2008. The construction of the goods logistics center was completed at the end of 2002.

From September 2004 to January 2006 the new administration building with five floors was built, which offers office space for about 100 employees. In 2009 the Transmodul, the world's first transport robot, was used.

The first TLM machine without a control cabinet was presented in 2014. In 2016, for the company's 50th anniversary, another system component for packaging products in tubular bags was added. The flowpack packaging machine Flowmodul enables direct and seamless packaging of products such as confectionery , cosmetics and pharmaceuticals as well as other products in flowpacks in one machine system.

In 2018, Gerhard Schubert GmbH took part in the “Factory of the Year” competition for the first time . The Crailsheim location is awarded the overall prize. The criteria for the award included, among other things, the ability to innovate, the quality along the entire value chain and the respectful treatment of employees. The congress of the same name and the award ceremony took place in March 2019.

In October 2019, construction work began on the plant expansion for 900 employees on site at the company's headquarters in Hofäckerstraße in Crailsheim. By relocating the adjacent L2218 state road, the company can build a pre-assembly hall and another administrative building at the headquarters. The additional assembly hall (approx. 5,000 m²) and another building (approx. 4,400 m²) should be completed in mid-2022. They create space for a further 300 employees.
