Gerhard Schulz (politician)

Gerhard Schulz (born May 9, 1948 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Schulz attended general high school and achieved his Abitur on a second educational path. He completed his training as a skilled worker for electrical engineering and for machining technology as a journeyman before he was trained as a master of mechanical engineering.

In 1975 Schulz joined the CDU and was local association chairman and member of the Leipzig City district committee from 1980 to 1990. From 1979 to 1990 he sat in the assembly of the Leipzig district southwest.

In the 1990 Volkskammer election , Schulz succeeded in entering the Volkskammer . He held the mandate until the end of the GDR .

In the 1990 Bundestag election , he won the direct mandate in the Leipzig II constituency and thus entered the Bundestag for the first time . In 1994 he was able to defend it. In 1998 he lost the constituency and the mandate, but replaced Manfred Kolbe in October 2000 and remained a member of parliament until 2002.
