Gerhard Schumann (politician)

Gerhard Schumann (born March 1, 1916 in Möllenbach , Thuringia ; † July 29, 1968 ) was a German party functionary of the GDR block party NDPD . He was chairman of the Cottbus and Magdeburg district boards of the NDPD.

Life

Schumann, son of a businessman, joined the NSDAP in 1933 . He was an agricultural administrator and a commercial clerk. He did military service and was taken prisoner of war as a sergeant major .

He joined the NDPD and in 1952 was political director of the NDPD district council in Cottbus. After studying at the Party School of NDPD in Waldsieversdorf he was 1953-1965 chairman of the District Board of Cottbus NDPD and belonged from 1954 to 1963 as a member of the county council Cottbus on. From 1953 to 1963 he was a member of the NDPD main committee and then a member of the secretariat of the NDPD main committee. From 1966 to 1968 he acted as chairman of the Magdeburg district committee of the NDPD and was again a member of the NDPD main committee in 1967/1968. Since 1967 he was a member of the Magdeburg District Assembly.
