Gerhard Steinecke

Gerhard Steinecke (born August 16, 1933 in Dresden ; † November 23, 2013 in Meißen ) was a German non-fiction author and chronicler from Meißen.

Life

Gerhard Steinecke (née Ritter) spent his childhood in the health resort Hartha , where he also attended school and experienced the end of the Second World War , which shaped him for a lifetime.

After various activities, Gerhard Steinecke studied education in Leipzig from 1958 to 1962 and history in Berlin from 1965 to 1970 . A short teaching activity followed. From 1974 to 1977 he worked as museum director in Liebstadt at Schloss Kuckuckstein , from 1977 to 1984 at the Museum Nossen . After a political conviction in 1984 he was a laborer from 1985 to 1990. Since the political turning point, he has been the local chronicle of the city of Meißen and has been increasingly active as a journalist (Meißner Tageblatt). The project he initiated for stumbling blocks in Meißen was decided by the city council in September 2012, but only implemented after his death. Because he died on November 23, 2013 in Meißen.

Gerhard Steinecke brought out various non-fiction books that deal in particular with the post-war period and the history of the city of Meissen.
