Gerhard Wägemann (* 2. February 1953 in White Castle in Bavaria ) is a politician of the CSU of Central Franconia , and until 30 April 2020, District Administrator of the district Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

Life

He grew up on a farm in Weißenburg in a parental home that was active in local politics. Politically, he was first in the Junge Union , later also in the CSU. After practical vocational training and subsequent studies in agriculture in Triesdorf via the technical college and the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences , he began his professional career at the Bavarian Farmers' Association . He later moved to become managing director of the Senefelder School Association in Treuchtlingen , the school authority for the local cooperative comprehensive school, and trained as an administrative specialist.

From 1990 to the end of 2004 he was a member of the Weissenburg City Council and was Deputy Chairman of the CSU City Council Group. In 1994 he was elected to the district assembly of Middle Franconia for the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . Until he left the district assembly after being elected to the Bavarian state parliament in 2003, he was deputy chairman of the CSU district assembly there. He was district councilor of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district from October 2005 until his election as district administrator in December 2011.

In the state elections on September 21, 2003, Gerhard Wägemann was elected to the Bavarian state parliament with 61.5% of the newly formed constituency Ansbach-Süd, Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . Wägemann was deputy chairman of the committee for education, youth and sport as well as a member of the committee for university, research and culture. From 1999 to 2011 he was district chairman of the CSU in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district, district chairman of the CSU working group School, Education and Sports Middle Franconia and a board member of the Landscape Management Association Middle Franconia . Gerhard Wägemann was a member of the Presidium of the Bavarian State Parliament from 2011 until he left the State Parliament in December 2011.

On March 17th, 2009 he was elected chairman of the Bavarian State Sports Advisory Board.

As a candidate of the CSU, Wägemann achieved an absolute majority with 51.2% of the votes for four candidates in the early district council election in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district on November 20, 2011 and is thus the successor of the late district administrator Franz Xaver Uhl . On September 24, 2017, he was elected for a further six years with 89.3% of the vote. At his own request, he left office prematurely on April 30, 2020 for reasons of age.

Gerhard Wägemann is married and has a grown daughter.
