Gerhart Aichert

Gerhart Aichert (born October 6,  1940 in Speyer ) is a German basketball official .

Life

Aichert came to basketball at the age of 15, and as a player, throwing from distance was one of his strengths. In 1961 he first became a functionary as the match manager of the district league Palatinate, later he took over the post of sports warden in the basketball association of Rhineland-Palatinate . 1988 Aichert, the (TSG's basketball department in 1981, he founded) became involved at club level at YMCA Worms and the TSG Maxdorf, elected chairman of the Basketball Association of the Rhineland-Palatinate (BVRP), in 1989 he was, together with Vice President Horst Molitor of the main initiators of the BVRP summer training camp for young people, which became a fixed date within the sports year in basketball in Rhineland-Palatinate. The establishment of the association's mini festival also went back to his work. Aichert's term of office as BVRP president also included a competitive sports reform within the association, combined with the creation of a full-time coaching position and the establishment of state performance centers in Speyer and Trier .

In 2005, Aichert initiated the “Teamworker” award, with which the German Basketball Association (DBB) honors people who work on a voluntary basis in the basketball scene.

In 2009 Aichert was awarded the sports badge of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate for his services to basketball by the then Prime Minister Kurt Beck . On the occasion of his 70th birthday he was presented with the Silver Badge of Honor of the Palatinate Sports Association . Under Aichert's leadership, the BVRP managed to increase the number of members in the association by more than ten percent within two years at the end of the 2000s / beginning of the 2010s. In 2011 he was accepted into the "Recruiting" working group of the German Basketball Association. In June 2012, he resigned as chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate basketball association and was appointed honorary president of the BVRP when he left office.

Until 2013, Aichert, who previously worked as a measurement and control engineer at the BASF Group, was managing director of BWA Basketball-Werbeagentur GmbH, the marketing company of the German Basketball Association.
