Gerlach Heino von Münchhausen
Gerlach Heino von Münchhausen (born March 2, 1652 in Leitzkau , † January 8, 1710 in Steinburg ) was a German chamberlain to the Great Elector , later chief stable master of Friedrich I. He came from the Lower Saxon noble family Münchhausen
Life
Gerlach Heino von Münchhausen, a great-grandson of the mercenary leader Hilmar von Münchhausen and grandson of Hilmar the Younger of Münchhausen from the noble family first mentioned in 1183 , was the son of Philipp Adolph von Münchhausen (1593-1657) and younger brother of Canon Christoph Friedrich von Münchhausen from Halberstadt . Like him, he was born at Leitzkau Castle and was christened Gerlach Heino on March 7th in the castle church there.
When he divided his father's property on April 5, 1679, together with the sons of his deceased older brother Hilmar von Münchhausen, he received Wendlinghausen Castle in the County of Lippe , which his grandfather Hilmar the Younger of Münchhausen had built around 1615. His wife was Catharina Sophia von Selmnitz from the Steinburg family , heiress of the estate in Straussfurt (Thuringia). His father bought the Steinburg estate from his brother-in-law Selmnitz in 1686. Catharina Sophia von Münchhausen founded an orphanage foundation in Straussfurt in 1725 - which existed until 1945.
The Prime Minister Gerlach Adolph von Münchhausen (1688-1770) was his son.
