politics

Stobrawa joined the SED in 1968 and remained a member after the transformation to the PDS and the merger to form the “Die Linke” party. From 1999 to 2003 she was a member of the Oder-Spree district council and from 2003 to 2013 honorary mayor of Bad Saarow .

Since the first state elections in October 1990, she was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament. There she was a member of the First and Second Brandenburg Constitutional Committees from 1991/1992 and from 1999 to 2004 she was chairwoman of the Committee on European Affairs and Development Policy. From 2004 to 2009 she was deputy chairman of this committee. From 2005 to 2009 she was Vice President of the State Parliament. Most recently, Stobrawa was the European political spokesperson for the DIE LINKE group.

On December 10, 2012, Stobrawa resigned from her seat as a MP.

Unofficial employee of the State Security

It has been known since November 1991 that Stobrawa had worked as IM Marisa for the Ministry for State Security (MfS) since September 1987 . The corresponding index card was found when the state parliament checked for Stasi participation. There she was used to spy on an employee of the Frankfurt (Oder) district council. From March 1988 she was subordinate to Department XX (Culture, Church, Underground) of the MfS. Since January 1989 she has even been listed as an unofficial employee in special operations (IME). In 1991, the so-called Honorary Commission classified Stobrawa as a borderline case, but at that time only some of the files that had been found so far were available. A signed declaration of commitment is still missing. Stobrawa denies the allegations, but at the same time stated that he could not dispel them. As a result, she suspended her post as Vice President of the State Parliament from November 27, 2009 and resigned from this position on November 30, 2009, without resigning from her state parliament mandate.

Stobrawa justifies her cooperation with the MfS at the time by saying that she was responsible for youth exchanges with Poland and for holiday stays for children from Israel, Syria, the PLO and the Federal Republic of Germany in the district council. In this context, safety-relevant questions had to be coordinated with the MfS. On December 17, 2009, Stobrawa published all documents handed over to her by the BStU on her website.
