Location of Altkünkendorf in Brandenburg

Altkünkendorf is a village in the Uckermark district in Brandenburg , which was incorporated into the city of Angermünde on December 31, 2000 . The first written mention of the place dates back to 1287, when the village was still called "Konckendorp". The place has two parts of the municipality: Luisenhof and Grumsin.

Located on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Grumsiner Forst in the Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve , there are scenic routes for cyclists and hikers in and around Altkünkendorf. Not far from the village you will find the Holy Lake and the Wolletzsee, where the Berlin – Usedom long-distance cycle route also leads.

The village church, built in the middle of the 13th century, was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style by Friedrich August Stüler in 1850–60 . It is used for public use through concerts, exhibitions, working groups, etc.

The von Arenstorff family owned the estate from the second half of the 14th century until 1668, the von Lattorff family around 1687 and the von Rohr family from 1788 to 1872 . At the beginning of the 20th century, the estate passed into civil ownership. In 1946, 889 hectares of land were expropriated and divided.

The first documented mention comes from the year 1287. In 1354 "Oldenkunekendorph" falls to Pomerania.

In 1459 the village was listed as desolate in the Brandenburg monastery register . In 1495 the Altkünkendorf estate was given as a fief to Otto and Hans von Arnsdorff.

In 1722 the Vorwerk Grumsin was built, schooling started in 1783 and in 1829 the Luisenhof was expanded into a Vorwerk. In 1891 a post agency was set up in Altkünkendorf.

In 1945 the landlord was expropriated and the property was distributed to 33 farmers, smallholders and resettlers.

In 1988 the village church was placed under monument protection. The nave and tower of this church were renovated between 1999 and 2001, the organ from 1850 was renovated in 2003.

In 1994 the manor house was renovated in accordance with the preservation order.
