Germano Wanderley

Germano Wanderley (born April 21, 1845 in Recife , † October 31, 1904 in Brno ) was a German-Brazilian architect and university professor . He is considered an important representative of historicism in Moravia architecture .

Wanderley studied architecture in Hamburg, Siegen and at the Berlin Bauakademie . He then taught at the building trade school in Eckernförde from 1868 to 1875 and was professor at the Brno University of Technology (now Brno University of Technology ) from 1875 to 1904 .

His pupils included Leopold Bauer , Josef Hoffmann and Adolf Loos . His specialty soon became the construction of farm buildings. In 1890, he was awarded the silver medal at the agricultural and forestry exhibition in Vienna for the design of a farmstead. He also built tenement houses in Brno (partly together with Johann Zoufal). He was also a member of the Moravian Art Association and the Association of Builders in Moravia and Silesia. In 1898 was appointed building officer.

He was married to Valeska (* August 10, 1846 - February 23, 1916), their son was the architect Hugo Wanderley (* March 10, 1871 - June 9, 1904). The couple also had a daughter Ida Wanderley (born May 25, 1873 in Eckernförde).
