Gernot Busch

Gernot Busch (* 1943 in Grimma ) is a German industrial engineer.

Life

After graduating from high school in Hamburg, Busch studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Berlin from 1963 to 1969, obtaining a degree in engineering. This was followed by an additional degree in economics in Bochum and Kiel until 1975. At the same time he worked as a freelance management consultant. After graduating, he worked for various media companies in a managerial position in the publishing sector at Axel Springer AG and Hamburger Morgenpost , then as managing director in the cable distribution division of Urbana Fernwärme-, Haus- und Medientechnik GmbH in Hamburg. Since 1988 Gernot Busch has published in a number of specialist magazines on the subjects of media technology, media marketing and media regulation.

From 1988 he turned to the technology of program distribution via satellite. From 1988 he was Marketing Manager at SES Société Europénnes des Satellites SA in Betzdorf (Luxembourg), the operating company of the Astra satellites . He played a key role in the establishment of the industry association “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Satelliteempfang” (AG Sat). In 1990 he moved to Astra-Marketing GmbH in Eschborn as managing director . During his work, he developed Astra into the leading platform for television reception via satellite in German-speaking countries.

From 2000 he was briefly managing director for mobility services at Daimler-Chrysler-Service AG in Berlin, since 2002 he has been managing director of Busch Media Consulting in Frankfurt with the focus on the definition of marketing goals and their implementation.

In 2008 he received his doctorate from the Comenius University in Bratislava at the Faculty of Management Sciences.

Association activity

Busch was a consultant to the Central Association of German Electrical and Information Technology Trades (ZVEH) and has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Central Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry (ZVEI) since 1995 . From 1998 to 2005 he was a member of the General Assembly of the Initiative Digitaler Rundfunk (IDR) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and was also the representative for networks and fields of action as well as the contact person for legal questions. From 2005 to 2009 he represented the interests of the ZVEH in the general assembly of the Digital Media Forum (FDM), in the organizing committee and in the AG Digitization of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy . Busch has long been chairman of the board of the regional group Rhein-Main of the Federal Association of German people and operation managers (bdvb eV), and a member of the Advisory Board of the Business Club Rhein-Main eV He supported under the Business Angels Frankfurt / Rhein-Main eV promising start-ups with Advice and action. By stimulating and organizing event cooperations with similar economic and citizen-oriented interest groups and associations in the Rhine-Main region, their level of awareness and the added value for their members is sustainably increased.

  • 2005: Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (Officier de l´Ordre de Merite du Grand-Duche de Luxembourg), for his commitment to the dissemination of satellite television via ASTRA in Europe.
  • 2012: Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for his commitment to the digitization of broadcasting in Germany.
