Gerold Lehner (born July 7, 1962 in Wels ) is an Austrian Evangelical Lutheran theologian and superintendent of the diocese of Upper Austria .

Life

Gerold Lehner spent his childhood in Pasching . He graduated from Linz . Before studying, from October 1982 onwards, he was doing community service for nine months in the Evangelical Diakoniewerk Gallneukirchen near Linz.

He studied Protestant theology at the Free Evangelical Theological Academy in Basel and the University of Vienna . In 1989 he wrote his diploma thesis on Vincent van Gogh's piety .

After his vicariate , Lehner initially worked as a pastor of the Church for the Glory of God in Purkersdorf . In 1997 he became rector of the evangelical seminary in Vienna . In his dissertation from 2003 he examined the function and origin of the New Testament allegories in their hermeneutical and sociological context. Gerold Lehner has been Superintendent of the Evangelical Superintendent AB Upper Austria since 2005 . His predecessor in office was Hansjörg Eichmeyer .
