Hansjörg Eichmeyer

Hansjörg Eichmeyer (born January 4, 1940 in Vöcklabruck ; † May 12, 2019 ) was an Austrian Evangelical Lutheran theologian .

Life

Hansjörg Eichmeyer studied Protestant theology at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau . In 1968 he became pastor in Attersee am Attersee and in 1974 at the Friedenskirche in Vöcklabruck , where his father had already been pastor. Member of the Synod of the Evangelical Church AB and the General Synod of the Evangelical Church A. u. HB became Eichmeyer in 1980.

In 1985 Hansjörg Eichmeyer was elected deputy to Superintendent Herwig Karzel of the Evangelical Superintendent of Upper Austria , until he was elected superintendent himself in 1990 as his successor. The opening of the Protestant Diocesan Museum in Rutzenmoos in 2000, the construction of the Dietrich Bonhoeffer student dormitory in Linz and the restructuring of the Protestant educational institute all took place during his term of office . In the field of ecumenism, he worked closely with the Roman Catholic Bishop Maximilian Aichern . Eichmeyer was also a member of the board of trustees of the Diakoniewerk Gallneukirchen and the hospice movement . In 2005 Gerold Lehner succeeded him as Upper Austrian Superintendent.

Hansjörg Eichmeyer was the father of five children and was married to Ulrike Eichmeyer-Schmid for the second time. He died in 2019 at the age of 80.
