Rutzenmoos is a village and cadastral municipality of the market town of Regau in the Hausruckviertel in Upper Austria .
history
The Protestant parish of Rutzenmoos is one of the nine historical tolerance communities in Upper Austria.
During the Reformation, 90% of the Austrian population were evangelical. Due to political influences, this was tacitly tolerated for about 100 years before the Protestant faith was banned under threat of punishment in 1624. This began the suffering of countless ancestors: many emigrated, became Catholic again - out of compulsion - or lived their evangelical faith in secret (secret Protestantism).
After the tolerance patent, the Protestant community of Rutzenmoos quickly formed. On the 1st of Advent 1782 the first Protestant service was held at the Nöhmer in Pilling. In the next year a prayer house and a rectory with a school were built.
population
The 2001 census counted 429 inhabitants for the place Rutzenmoos, currently the place has 808 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
