Hermann Hagena

Hermann Hagena (born November 20, 1931 in Kigarama (East Africa)) is a German officer ( retired Brigadier General ), pilot , lawyer and publicist . Most recently he was deputy commander of the command academy of the Bundeswehr .

Life

legal studies

From 1952 to 1955 he studied law and political science at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Philipps-Universität Marburg . In 1951/52 he was a Fulbright scholar at the Liberal Arts Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. After the state examination in law in 1955, he was a trainee lawyer and doctoral candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law . In 1959 he was at Hermann Mosler with an international work on the position of state representatives in international political organizations for Doctor of Laws (Dr. iur. Utr.) PhD.

Military background

Promotions

In 1957 Hagena joined the Air Force of the Armed Forces one. He completed his officer training at the Air Force Training Regiment 1 in Uetersen and at the Air Force Officer School (OSLw) in Faßberg. In 1958/59 he was a group and platoon leader in the air force training regiment in Altenwalde. In 1959 he was screened on L-18 . He was also used as a language teacher. In 1959/60 he completed language and aviation training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, at Bartow Air Base in Bartow, Florida and at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas. He was trained on T-37 , F-86 and T-33 . 1960/61 he was a course participant in Fürstenfeldbruck. In 1961 he received the day hunt training (F-86) at the Luftwaffe 10 weapons school in Oldenburg. From 1961 to 1963 he was a fighter pilot (F-86) and received an S3 training with Jagdgeschwader 73 (today: "Steinhoff").

As part of an exchange program with the US Air Force , he was assigned to the rank of captain from 1963 to 1966 as a flight instructor and assistant professor at the Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From 1966 to 1968 he was a pilot ( F-104 G), operational staff officer and deputy commander of the flying group at Jagdgeschwader 74 (today: Tactical Air Force Wing) in Neuburg an der Donau, which from 1973 to 2005 was nicknamed "Mölders".

From 1968 to 1970 he completed the 13th general staff course (L) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. From 1970 to 1972 he was a consultant for the Air Force in the planning department in the command staff of the armed forces (Fü S VI 3) in Bonn. Afterwards he was lecture director at the General Staff Training Air Force and from 1974 to 1977 he was head of the staff department for training and teaching at the FüAkBw. In 1977 he became Head of the Air Force Command Training Division (Fü LI 5) in Bonn. From 1984 to 1989 he was the deputy of commanders Dieter Wellershoff , Dieter Clauß , Jörn Söder and Werner von Scheven at the FüAkBw.

In 1989 he was put into temporary retirement as Brigadier General.

politics

From the end of the 1960s, Hagena became politically active in the European Federalist Party (EFP), for which he ran unsuccessfully in the 1969 Bundestag election in the constituency of Pinneberg (constituency 9) as a direct candidate and on the Schleswig-Holstein state list (10/13). Under Hans-Wittich von Gottberg , he was the party's press spokesman .

Studies, journalism and consultancy

After studying Slavic Studies from 1989 to 1991 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , he remained active as a consultant (Russia / Ukraine, European aviation industry) and journalist. He received special attention beyond military and security policy circles with his journalistic commitment to the rehabilitation of Werner Mölders .

Hagena is / was a member of the Clausewitz Society , the Military and Social Sciences Working Group , the Association of German Armed Forces Aviators, the Mölders Association at Jagdgeschwader 74 in Neuburg / Donau and the "Mölders Friends". He was also a member of the Dresden Study Group Security Policy, which was dissolved in 2015 .
