Lackland Air Force Base is one since 1941 military airfield of the United States Air Force , of the Air Education and Training Command 's (AETC) assumed. It is located west of San Antonio , Texas , USA and was named after Brigadier General Frank Lackland . Lackland AFB is part of Joint Base San Antonio and is operated by the 502d Air Base Wing . 7123 people live on the 11.1 km² base.

Airplane collection

Next to Paradeplatz is the “Lackland Air Force Base Aircraft Collection”, a permanent exhibition of historical military aircraft. The collection includes the B-52 Stratofortress , McDonnell F-4 Phantom II, Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, C-121 Constellation, Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and North American B-25 "Mitchell".
