Geronimo Allison (born January 18, 1994 in Tampa , Florida ) is an American football player. He plays in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions as a wide receiver .

Early years

Allison went to high school in Riverview , Florida . In college football , Allison first played for the Iowa Western Community College and moved to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2015 .

NFL

He was not selected in the 2016 NFL Draft , but signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent on May 6, 2016 . After he was initially only intended for the Practice Squad , he was promoted to the active squad in October 2016. In week 8 of the season he finally made his NFL debut against the Atlanta Falcons . In this game he scored his first touchdown. He closed the season with 16 receptions and two touchdowns.

In the 2017 season, he was banned from playing the first game after violating the NFL's anti-doping rules. He had previously used marijuana and was arrested. During the season he caught 23 passes with which he gained a total of 253 yards of space but could not achieve a touchdown.

After he got off to a good start into the 2018 season (19 receptions, 289 yards, 2 touchdowns), he suffered a concussion in the game against the Washington Redskins in week 4 and could only be used again in week 8. In November of the same year he also had to undergo a groin operation.

As for the previous one, his contract for the 2019 season was renewed for another year.
