The Gerstäcker Museum

The Gerstäcker Museum was founded in Braunschweig in 1982 and is dedicated to the life and work of the writer Friedrich Gerstäcker .

It is located in the former watch and kitchen house of Richmond Castle . An exhibition reorganized in 2005 provides information on the adventurous life of the writer who spent his youth and last years in Braunschweig.

The museum is run on a voluntary basis by the Friedrich Gerstäcker Society . Since 2006 an extensive collection of originals and replicas of "Firearms of the Wild West " has come together and is on permanent display.

Since October 2, 2016, the museum has been permanently closed after 34 years.
