This was followed by several changes of apartment in Braunschweig: From 1882 to 1886 he lived at Wolfenbüttler Straße 9 , 1886 to 1896 at Leisewitzstraße 7 , 1896 to 1901 Am Windmühlenberg 3 Finally he moved into a spacious 7-room apartment at Leonhardstraße 29 a , the today's Raabe-Haus, where he died on November 15, 1910.

After the restoration of the house, the city of Braunschweig opened a memorial for the writer on September 8, 1948 in the former Raabe apartment.
