In 2006, Gert Dockx finished second overall in the junior class at the Giro della Toscana and the Circuit de la Région Wallonne . At the Grand Prix Général Patton he won the second stage and was able to win the overall standings. The following year he won the U23 edition of the Belgian classic Omloop Het Volk . In 2008 Dockx won the third stage of the Ronde de l'Isard d'Ariège . At the end of 2008 he drove as a stagiaire with the UCI ProTeam Columbia . In 2011 he moved to the Omega Pharma-Lotto team . After the division of the team, he signed a contract with the Lotto-Belisol team - like many other drivers and supervisors of the Omega Pharma-Lotto team - and won two stages of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo for this team in 2013 . During his career, Dockx completed the Giro d'Italia three times and the Vuelta a España twice . After the 2016 season he retired from active cycling.
