Gert Jüsgen (born March 5, 1941 ) was a soccer goalkeeper in the East German league , the top soccer class in GDR sport. There he played for SC Neubrandenburg and 1. FC Magdeburg .

Athletic career

Until 1962, Jüsgen was part of the Bad Doberan company sports community Aufbau im Tor. In the summer of 1962 he joined SC Neubrandenburg , which had just been promoted to the second-rate GDR league . There he quickly became a regular goalkeeper and in 1964 was part of the team that made it to the GDR league . At the same time, however, the Greifswald goalkeeper Peter Below had registered with the Neubrandenburg team, who displaced Jüsgen from his regular position in the 1964/65 league season so that he was only used five times. SC Neubrandenburg was relegated again after just one season, Below left the team in 1966 and then Jüsgen returned to his regular place. In the meantime, the sports club had become the BSG Post Neubrandenburg, which narrowly missed promotion to the league as second in the league in 1966 and 1967.

For the season 1967/68 the league promoted 1. FC Magdeburg was looking for a second goalkeeper behind Hans-Georg Moldenhauer , and since Jüsgen showed interest in playing in the football club again, it came to the Elbe in the summer of 1967. Due to multiple failures of Moldenhauer Jüsgen came in his first Magdeburg season to 13 appearances in the league team of the FCM. In the following season, the young Ulrich Schulze attracted attention as a talented goalkeeper and ousted Jüsgen as goalkeeper No. 2, who was not used at all in 1968/69.

Jüsgen then moved to the neighboring BSG Turbine Magdeburg in the third-class district league for a year . Further stations were in 1969/70 district league team Stahl Finow and, from the summer of 1970, the BSG Motor Eberswalde , with which Jüsgen rose to the GDR league in 1972.
