Gertrud Buder

Gertrud Buder (born March 18, 1952 in Memmingen ) is a German textile artist , designer and artisan .

Buder trained as a weaver at the Sindelfingen weaving school from 1972 to 1974. She then studied textile design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Leo Wollner and graduated in 1979 with a degree in designer.

In 1982 she received the Recognition Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg , in 1984 the Prize of the City of Baden-Baden , in 1988 the Prize for Music and Art from the City of Böblingen , in 1990 a Prize from the Ulm Chamber of Crafts and in 1994 the State Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg. She was also given the Wearable Art Award Nelson / New Zealand . In 1996 she received the third prize at the Sculpture Path of the Böblingen State Garden Show.

She gives annual gifts for the Böblinger Kunstverein. In 1995 she took part in the Platform '95 "campaign.

In her textile wall objects, Buder combines a variety of materials, including linen, hemp, coconut, horse and goat hair, silk, wool and plastic, and uses various techniques such as weaving, braiding and knotting. Her works show delicately used, delicate color nuances, material brittleness and transparency determine the fragile character of the objects.

Her works can be seen in the town hall of Rübgarten, in the Schönaich nursing home , in the parish hall in Steinenbronn and in the Museum of Art and Crafts in Vienna.

She lives in Waldenbuch .
