Gertrud Stickler

Gertrud Stickler FMA (born May 27, 1929 in Neunkirchen , Lower Austria ; † February 4, 2015 in Turin ) was an Austrian Don Bosco sister and religious psychologist .

Life

Stickler was born in Neunkirchen in Lower Austria as the youngest of twelve children of Mikeal Stickler and Teresa Schachner. In 1951 she went to Italy to become a Don Bosco sister. She embarked on an academic career at an early age and worked for more than 40 years as a lecturer in the psychology of religion at the Auxilium Faculty of Education in Rome . From 1980 to 1983 she was dean of this faculty. In 2009, Stickler retired. On December 9, 2010 she received the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria . The award was presented to her on the premises of the Austrian embassy at the Holy See in Rome by the ambassador Martin Bolldorf .

Gertrud Stickler was the sister of the Salesian and Curia Cardinal Alfons Maria Stickler  SDB. She lived in Turin since 2010 .
