The Gertrudenkapelle is a Roman Catholic chapel in the local community Rheinbrohl in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Neuwied .

history

The chapel consecrated to St. Gertrude von Nivelles was built in the first half of the 13th century as a church in the neighboring Gertrudenhof, which today houses the Rheinbrohl town hall. The Gertrudenhof was owned by the Gertrudenstift zu Nivelles . The monastery sold the farm to the Elector of Trier in 1706.

The Romanesque choir tower in the east has been preserved from the time it was built . The nave of the chapel was replaced by a new building in the 17th century, and the windows in the choir were enlarged. The medieval parish church of Rheinbrohl, which was demolished in 1851, also had a choir tower in the east.
