The comprehensive school Kamen is a comprehensive school in Kamen in the eastern Ruhr area . The school is currently attended by over 1,300 students who are taught by more than 100 teachers . The upper level has around 300 students.
history
In 1969 the school started operations. Due to the high number of students, a new building was built shortly after the comprehensive school opened, with space for around 3800 students . Thus the comprehensive school Kamen was the largest integrated comprehensive school in Germany . A short time after moving into the new building, however, the school was divided into two independent comprehensive schools. The Carlo Schmid Comprehensive School and the Hermann Ehlers Comprehensive School were established , and from then on they shared the building. After the establishment of the Fridtjof-Nansen-Realschule and the municipal secondary school in Kamen , the two comprehensive schools were merged again into one school. The secondary school then moved into part of the building.

Music classes
A special feature of the comprehensive school Kamen is that special music classes are offered. This means that all class members play at least one instrument and that there is a class orchestra , music lessons with orchestral wind instruments and a rhythm section, and a combination of orchestral and instrumental lessons .
Although most students play one wind instrument, playing another instrument is possible in the music class.
Mastering an instrument is a small advantage, but it is by no means necessary. An instrument can also be learned in music class.
