Tales between Moss and Fern (also fly agaric and Kasimir , Czech Pohádky z mechu a kapradí ) is a Czechoslovak cartoon series from the years 1968, 1970 and 1972. The series is aimed at preschool children.
content
The two goblins toadstool and Kasimir (in Czech Křemílek and Vochomůrka ) live in a little house in the forest that looks like a tree. There they experience adventures with the animals in the forest, but also with fairy tale characters such as fairies and giants .
backgrounds
production
Tales between Moss and Fern was developed in 1968 by the Czech draftsman Zdeněk Smetana based on a novel by Václav Čtvrtek . Smetana, who also directed, drew the episodes. As a “special style” he dipped various plant leaves in ink and then used them as a background.
In the original, both goblins and other explanations were spoken by Jiřina Bohdalová . She said in an interview that she first spoke the dialogues and only then did the drawings.
Tales between Moss and Fern was one of the series on the Večerníček program , which roughly corresponds to the Sandman .
music
The theme music written by Jaroslav Celba was played in the series without text. In 1974 the song was published with a text by Ivo Fischer under the title Cestu Znám Jen Já ; the singer was Karel Gott in 1974. This song is considered the cover version of My Gandfather's Clock by Henry Clay Work, a 19th century American composer and songwriter .
publication
The first episode of Tales Between Moss and Fern was first broadcast on Czechoslovak television on October 6, 1968 . In 1968, 1970 and 1972 one season each was shown. Each of these seasons consisted of 13 episodes.
In Germany, on November 29, 1971, an episode of the series was first broadcast in Das Erste . Up until 1974 further episodes were shown "sporadically in the afternoon program".
aftermath
The first season was produced in black and white in 1968. For the 50th anniversary, the affected episodes were colored . Zdeněk Smetana said he was delighted with this decision, but did not see the first performances.
