location

The federal highway 110 runs from the northwest from the city center parallel to the Peene in a southeast direction. North of the Marienhain , it branches off as Mühlenstraße in a northerly direction. The building stands as a corner house northwest of this intersection at Mühlenstrasse 30.

history

In 1935 the newspaper publisher Wilhelm Gesellius commissioned the architect Friedrich Brinkmann to build an office and commercial building. However, Gesellius died on September 28, 1935.

Building description

The corner house was built as a three-storey building made of brick , which was then lightly plastered . Sales areas are planned on the lower floor; Brinkmann had large arches built there, which were then glazed. The two upper floors are optically separated from the rest of the building by a surrounding cornice . On the facade in the direction of Mühlenstrasse, a bay window extends over the middle and upper storey. It was decorated with symbols of the guild and handicraft as well as science and city history. A plastered gable with Baroque elements rises above it .
