history

With the approval of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry for Social Affairs, Labor, Health and Demography RLP , the merger of the funds was set for January 1, 2012.

On September 6, 2011, it was announced that IKK Südwest had withdrawn its application for approval of the merger. Thus, due to the disputes about the new market presence, in particular the controversial logo without "AOK", it was not merged into the Südwest health insurance company.

Instead, the AOK Rheinland-Pfalz took on the AOK Saarland on March 1, 2012 under the expanded name AOK Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland .
