The IKK Southwest , based in Saarland, Saarbrücken is a German Innungskrankenkasse that emerged on 1 July 2009 from the merger of IKK Southwest-direct and IKK Southwest-Plus. It is open to the federal states of Hesse , Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland . As a health insurance company , it is a corporation under public law.

history

In 1995 the IKK des Saarland was founded with its headquarters in Saarbrücken. The IKK Rheinland-Pfalz headquarters in Mainz emerged in August 1995 from the merger of the IKK Rheinhessen-Pfalz and the IKK Rheinland-Pfalz Nord. Due to the numerous local offices, the IKK Rhineland-Palatinate was characterized by a comprehensive service. The IKK des Saarlandes and the IKK Rheinland-Pfalz have been cooperating with each other since 2004. In the same year, the IKK des Saarland operated under the new name IKK Südwest-Direkt. The IKK Rhineland-Palatinate renamed IKK Südwest-Plus in 2005. On July 1, 2009, the IKK Südwest-Direkt merged with the IKK Südwest-Plus to form the IKK Südwest. On October 1, 2011, she wanted to merge with AOK Saarland and AOK Rhineland-Palatinate to form Gesundheitskasse Südwest . On September 6, 2011, it was announced that IKK Südwest had withdrawn its application for approval of the merger.

In its meeting on February 24, 2014, the administrative board of IKK Südwest appointed Roland Engehausen (from July 2014) and Jörg Loth as the new dual leadership on the board. The long-standing CEO, Frank Spaniol, was dismissed without notice in April 2013 due to fraud.

Since October 1, 2013, the IKK Südwest has been the first and at that time the only statutory health insurance company to include in its statutes a partial reimbursement of services in the areas of homeopathy and naturopathic treatment, which were provided by an alternative practitioner . The Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Women and Family in Saarbrücken, as the supervisory authority, issued the approval if the alternative practitioner is a qualified service provider within the meaning of the statutes (association membership, etc.). The amount of reimbursement for each insured person and calendar year in the homeopathy / other naturopathic area is a maximum of 30 euros per session, for a total of up to five sessions.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. Until December 31, 2014, the IKK did not levy any additional contribution that was independent of the health insurance fund . Since July 1, 2017, it has been charging an income-related additional contribution of 1.5 percent of the contributory income, which is above the national average.
