The Brandenburg and Berlin Guild Health Insurance Fund (IKK BB), based in Potsdam, is a German guild health insurance fund and was created in 1999 from the merger of the IKK Brandenburg and the IKK Berlin. As part of the statutory health insurance , it is a corporation under public law .

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. The general contribution rate was set at 14.6% in 2015, 7.3% for both employers and employees. According to forecasts by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG), the average, legally determined additional contribution to statutory health insurance is 1.1 percent for 2017 and 1.0 percent for 2018.

Since July 1, 2019, the IKK BB has been charging an income-related additional contribution of 1.49 percent of the contributory income. Board of Directors

In the self-government with equal representation (administrative board) of the IKK Brandenburg and Berlin, employer and employee representatives determine the actions. The board of directors is appointed by the insured community for six years in the context of social elections. The self-administration of the IKK Brandenburg and Berlin currently consists of 14 employer representatives, representatives of the organized Brandenburg and Berlin handicrafts, and 14 employee representatives from the trade union environment of the regional handicrafts. In addition, there is an equal number of deputy members.

Structure and board

The IKK Brandenburg and Berlin has a regional structure and is divided into four central service centers in Berlin, Potsdam, Cottbus and Frankfurt (Oder), 27 branches and 20 service points in cooperation with IKK BB partner Signal Iduna. The insured are looked after by around 500 employees. The IKK has a sole executive board and a board of directors with equal representation.
