The Transport Personnel Union (SEV) ( French Syndicat du personnel des transports , Italian Sindacato del personale dei trasporti ) (formerly: Swiss Railway and Transport Personnel Association) is the third largest workers organization / trade union in Switzerland . The union, based in Bern , represents the interests of public transport workers working in Switzerland as well as transport- related companies and their ancillary businesses.

Its around 42,000 members (as of 2016) work for the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), private railways, shipping companies, urban transport companies, bus companies and in the tourism sector for numerous cable cars and ski lifts. The SEV offers its members, among other things, legal protection in professional matters.

Offices

The union's office is the central secretariat in Bern . The SEV also has branches in Bellinzona , Chur , Geneva , Lausanne , St. Gallen , Zurich and Olten .

The association president is Giorgio Tuti, vice-presidents are Barbara Spalinger and Manuel Avallone, the financial administrator is Aroldo Cambi. Together they make up the management.

The SEV was created in 1919 through the merger of the various professional associations for railway personnel. These associations live on in the umbrella organization SEV as sub-associations. For the 100th anniversary in 2019, a SBB Re 460 locomotive will be running on the SBB network for one year .

Structure of the SEV

congress

The congress, which takes place every two years, is the highest authority of the SEV. 250 delegates from the sub-associations, the sections and the commissions take part.

Board of Directors (Vd)

The board consists of a total of 19 delegates from the sub-associations and the three commissions. It is chaired by Andreas Menet (central president of the sub-association ZPV), while Danilo Tonina (vice-central president of the sub-association RPV) is the vice-president. The executive board is the strategic management body of the SEV.

Management (GL)

The executive board, which is in charge of operational management, consists of the president, up to three vice-presidents and the finance administrator.

Business Audit Committee (GPK)

The GPK, which consists of five members elected by the Congress, acts as the control body.

  • VPT : Sub-association of the personnel of private transport companies
  • PV : Sub-Association of Retired Persons (Retired Association)

Commissions

The migration, women's and youth commissions ensure that the interests of the respective member group are represented internally and externally. You also carry out target group-specific advertising measures.

Youth Commission

Young people up to the age of 30 can belong to the youth commission.

Women's Commission

All women organized in the SEV belong to the women's commission.

Migration Commission

The migration commission includes all migrants organized in the SEV.

Sections

The sections are part of the SEV and its sub-association. They are associations of members of the same sub-association. Each SEV member is also a member of the responsible sub-association and the responsible section.
